Fundraiser for Susan G. Komen – Chicago

Meet Our Walkers

On September 11-13, 2020, Connie Wood and Cora Watson will be walking in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day®, supporting the fight against cancer. 3 Days, 60 miles. The funds raised by the supporters and participants is used to invest in cutting-edge research that will lead to new, more effective treatments against the disease. Click here to read more about this mission. Meet Connie and Cora, and learn why they are walking.

The Old Fat Guys attended Waterman High School with Connie.  We’re thrilled to have another walker in our community to support!

“On Sept. 11-13, 2020, I will be participating in the Susan G. Komen 3 day, 60 mile walk to end breast cancer. I’ve been a long distance walker for several years but I’ve never walked 60 miles! I have 2 very dear friends battling breast cancer and I know many other women that have won the fight, are currently fighting, and unfortunately have lost the fight. I am walking to raise awareness and money for the cure. I graduated from Waterman High School in 1975 so I’m not a spring chicken so this will be hard, but not as hard as breast cancer.” http://www.the3day.org/goto/ConnieWood2020

Cora Watson

This will be Cora’s third time walking. The first was in 2010, when this photo was taken.

Cora Watson bio
“Why do I walk? Because something needs to change. This disease affects more people than we imagine. My grandmother passed away before I was even thought of, in her late 40’s. Way too young! I have two friends that have been diagnosed in the last 18 months. Luckily, so far they have beat the disease. Hopefully for forever! I walk in honor of them, the survivors, the fighters, and those we have lost.”
